Playing Draw Poker
By: Richard Bleuze
Draw poker is not available at many online casinos. It is, however, a popular home game.
Five-Card Draw is a version of draw poker that many people are aware of. Many people have been playing it at kitchen tables for ages. Five-Card Draw was popular in the old west. However, after the advent of Omaha, Seven-Card Stud and most prominently Texas Hold'em, the popularity of Five-Card Draw started to falter. Today, it is pretty hard to findt Five-Card Draw game even at casinos or poker clubs.
There is a common misconception about Five-Card Draw that it is based mostly on luck, and certainly more so than most other forms of poker. However, this assumption is not entirely correct. However, it is true that Five-Card Draw is a game with less information.
In Texas Hold'em, you can reach a conclusion about the best hand by just looking at the board. However, this is not the case in Five-Card Draw. Your opponent just might have a queen high or even a royal straight flush without you knowing it. The only fact that you do know is that your opponent drew a certain number of cards after the end of the 1st. betting round and what they bet.
If you are looking forward to becoming an excellent Five-Card Draw player, you have to be sharp on spotting tells. This means that you should focus very carefully on the opponent's actions at the table.
