What is Telesina Poker

Telesina Poker is a five stud poker variant, or better to say mixture between stud poker and community card poker.  Telesina Poker is very popular in some European countries, especially Italy since Telesina Poker is a poker game that originated in Sanremo, Italy. It is played with a “French deck” with thirty-two cards (from A to 7) and up to 6 players are allowed in the same game.  Telesina Poker is not an easy poker game to play.  That is why it is not that popular.  However, it is a fun poker game and I suggest that you play Telesina Poker once in awhile than always playing your favorite poker game.  If you have never played it before, be sure to read this article on Telesina Poker.  In addition, give it a try by going to BetShark.com poker room

The rules concerning Telesina Poker are:

Number of players: From 2 to max 6 players.
Deck: Stripped deck - 32 cards from A to 7. (What is known as a "French" deck)
Limit: No limit.
Dealer: Cards are dealt clockwise starting with the first active player after the dealers button.
Ante: Before the cards are dealt, each player must place the ante.

Each player in Telesina Poker receives two cards - The first one dealt to each player will be face down ("hole card"), and the other card is face up - for everyone to see.  The reason for this is that when playing Telesina Poker, the player with the highest ranking up-card is forced to start the betting.   Usually the amount is 2 x the ante or higher.  In Telesina Poker, the action continues clockwise until betting is completed for the round.  Once this first betting round is completed, each Telesina Poker player receives another card face up and betting action follows.  This is repeated two more times, so that each Telesina Poker player has 4 face up and 1 face down card.  For a total of 5 cards.  Once the fifth card has been dealt to each Telesina Poker player and the betting round is over, one card is placed in the middle of the table.  This is the community card since this card can be used by all players to improve their hands.  Once the community card is placed, the final betting round follows. If more then one player reaches this stage of play, it is time for the showdown.  If there was betting on 5th street the player who made the last bet or raise must show his hand first.  Otherwise, the player showing the highest hand on the board shows his hand first.  In Telesina Poker, the best five-card hand wins the pot and if two or more players have the same hand they split the pot.

What are the hand ranking in Telesina Poker?  Well, it goes like this:

Straight Flush
Four of a Kind
Flush
Full House
Straight
Three of a Kind
Two Pair
One Pair

In addition, there is also a suit ranking in Telesina Poker.  Ties in card rank for the both bring-in and showdown (in the case of the equal straight flush, flush, straight, 2 pairs, pair) are broken by suits in the following order:

Hearts
Diamonds
Clubs
Spades
